The Pregame Pressure
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers faced a tremendous amount of pressure heading into last Sunday's road battle against the Chicago Bears and their very talented defense. A win would clinch an NFC North championship and keep alive the Packers' hopes of landing a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons didn't need to beat the New York Giants to secure the NFC South, but a win would inch them closer to clinching home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Defeating the defending Super Bowl champs would also let Ryan's team make a strong statement after a very disappointing Week 14 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
The In-Game Performance
Rodgers led the Packers to an impressive 21-13 win over the Bears, completing 64 percent of his passes for 291 yards and tossing three touchdowns. He didn't turn the ball over a single time, and also helped the Packers convert seven of 17 third-down opportunities.
Ryan led the Falcons to a dominant 34-0 win over the Giants, completing 82 percent of his passes for 270 yards and throwing three touchdowns. Ryan also didn't turn the ball over a single time; he helped the Falcons convert nine of 13 third-down opportunities.
The Post-Game Pick
Both of these quarterbacks played nearly flawless football while leading their teams to big wins. They both played against defensively talented teams that were also scrapping for a playoff spot. Ryan posted more impressive numbers, but Rodgers played in a more hostile environment. This is a very tough call, but I'm going to give the slight edge to Ryan. -- Daniel Jeremiah
