Wade Phillips of the Dallas Cowboys is the Motorola NFL Coach of the Week for games played on December 11-15.
Phillips led the Cowboys in a 20-8 win over the division rival New York Giants. QB Tony Romo completed 20 of 30 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns while rookie RB Tashard Choice added 91 yards and a score on the ground. The defense forced two turnovers and sacked Giants QB Eli Manning eight times. LB DeMarcus Ware recorded three of those sacks and totaled seven tackles in the victory.
Phillips was selected as Motorola NFL Coach of the Week from among three finalists by voters on NFL.com. The other nominees were Gary Kubiak of the Houston Texans and Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals.
In January, voting will be held on NFL.com to determine the Motorola NFL Coach of the Year.
Kubiak and the Houston Texans beat the AFC South rival Tennessee Titans, 13-12, to bring their record to 7-7. The Texans offense controlled the ball for more than 36 minutes and gained 375 yards. Texans QB Matt Schaub completed 23-of-39 passes for 284 yards and one touchdown and rookie RB Steve Slaton added 100 rushing yards. WR Andre Johnson recorded 11 receptions for a career-high 207 yards and caught Schaub's one touchdown pass. The Texans' defense recorded two turnovers and put pressure on a Titans offense that only converted 2-of-13 third downs.
Lewis led the Cincinnati Bengals to a 20-13 win over the Washington Redskins. Bengals QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 16 of 29 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown, and added 29 yards rushing with one touchdown. The Cincinnati offense gained 310 yards and controlled the ball for more than 31 minutes. Cincinnati's defenserecovered two Washington fumbles, one of which led to a touchdown drive.
