The Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday that they have signed free-agent cornerback Rod Hood, a starter for the Arizona Cardinals in last season's Super Bowl.
NFL.com's Steve Wyche reports that Hood received a one-year contract. Financial terms weren't known.
Hood spent the past two seasons with the Cardinals. He started 14 games last season, recording 40 tackles and one interception, and also blocked a field goal and returned it 68 yards for a touchdown. In 2007, Hood had five interceptions, two for touchdowns.
Hood, who spent four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before going to Arizona, is expected to compete with Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald for a starting job in Cleveland.
