Rough Stretch
Starting with back-to-back divisional road games at Dallas and Philadelphia, the Redskins face a defining stretch from Weeks 11 through 14. After journeying to confront its two rivals, Washington comes home to take on the Saints, before traveling cross country to do battle with the Raiders -- a team they are just 3-7 against all time.
3 Key Moments
For the second consecutive year, the Redskins will begin their season with a Week 1 contest at the Giants. Last season they were manhandled in a 16-7 loss that set the tone for New York's NFC East title run. In 2009, the Redskins will try to reverse that outcome.
The Redskins swept the Eagles last season, but have not done so two years in a row since 1982-83. Their first matchup with the rival Eagles this season will happen Monday night at FedEx Field in Week 7 and precedes a bye week.
Doug Flutie was the Chargers' starting quarterback, Marty Schottenheimer was the Redskins' coach and LaDainian Tomlinson was a rookie the last time these two teams met at San Diego in 2001. The Redskins hope this game, a season finale, goes nothing like that last one, a season-opener (30-3, Chargers).

Caught a Break
The Redskins have an opportunity to build some early momentum in Weeks 2 through 4. They play host to a Rams team that will still be learning Steve Spagnuolo's system, then travel to Detroit (a team they are 30-10 against all-time) and finish with a home game against the Buccaneers.
