The Arizona Cardinals announced Thursday that they have signed free-agent fullback Dan Kreider to a one-year contract.
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
In Arizona, Kreider will be reunited with Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, who was the Pittsburgh Steelers' tight ends coach (2001-03) and offensive coordinator (2004-06) for six of the fullback's eight seasons with the team and has brought many of his former players to the desert. Known mostly as a hard-nosed blocker who can catch passes out of the backfield, Krieder likely will replace Terrell Smith, a free agent, as the Cardinals' starting fullback.
After starting in 66 of 113 games with the Steelers, Kreider joined the St. Louis Rams last season and appeared in 11 contests before he was released Nov. 26.
