BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns cut backup defensive back Kenny Wright, who was arrested last month on marijuana possession charges after trying to outrun police in Texas.
Wright faces misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. Police in Pearland, Texas, said officers were investigating a disturbance in the police station parking lot around 11:30 a.m. on April 3. When officers approached Wright, he took off running and was eventually caught in a nearby subdivision.
Police said they found 1.875 ounces of marijuana in Wright's vehicle.
Wright played in seven games last season, getting three tackles and one quarterback pressure. He is a nine-year NFL veteran and has appeared in 133 career games, including 57 starts, with Minnesota, Houston, Jacksonville, Washington and Cleveland.
