Saints sign Rishard Matthews after minicamp tryout

The Saints are adding another weapon to their high-scoring offense.

New Orleans signed veteran wide receiver Rishard Matthews on Thursday. Matthews, 29, was a seventh-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2012, and has also logged time with the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets.

Matthews' best season came in 2016 with the Titans when he had 65 receptions for nine touchdowns and 945 yards. He played only eight games last season -- three with Tennessee before requesting his release in September and five with New York -- recording just five total receptions.

The Saints had Matthews practice with the team at minicamp this week as a tryout, and apparently he did enough to impress.
