Falcons GM: Julio Jones 'healed up very, very well'

Julio Jones sat out the entire offseason workout program up to this point after undergoing foot surgery in March. The Falcons are ready for their dynamic receiver to hit the field during training camp.

"He's healed up very, very well," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said Monday, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We are ready for him to jump into camp. I'm don't know the exact rep count, but as you know Julio will do what he feels he can do ... He's so competitive when he gets back on the field. We'll continue to monitor him."

Jones is likely to participate on a limited basis during camp as the Falcons ease their superstar wideout into his normal workload. The recovery time for the 28-year-old receiver after the foot cleanup was reportedly 4-to-5 months, which puts Jones on track to start light work when Falcons practices begin on Thursday.

Any update on Jones' foot is noteworthy after he's dealt with nagging annoyances the past few years, despite missing just three games the past three seasons.

Having Julio ready for camp is Stage One for in the Falcons repeating last season's high-flying offense. With new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian coming into town, having the top receiver on the field for practices will benefit a smooth transition from Kyle Shanahan.
