Lane Kiffin offers scholarship to 13-year-old QB Kaden Martin

Add Kaden Martin to the list of ridiculously young athletes to receive a scholarship offer.

New Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin has offered Martin, a 13-year-old quarterback who has yet to take a snap in high school, a full ride with the Owls. Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman first reported the news. Martin is the son of Tee Martin, the former Tennessee quarterback who played briefly in the NFL and is now the offensive coordinator at USC. Tee Martin confirmed the news to the Alabama Media Group.

The younger Martin plays at Adams Middle School in Redondo Beach, Calif., and has a future as a baseball pitcher as well, per Feldman. The elder Martin was on Kiffin's coaching staff at USC.

It's not the first time Kiffin has offered a kid of a quarterback. He drew a lot of attention in 2010 when he offered David Sills, then only 12, a scholarship to USC. Sills ended up at West Virginia, but never found any success at the position at the FBS level. The story of another case of a player offered before entering high school, Dylan Moses, will see its next chapter written this fall. Moses, offered by LSU the summer before his ninth-grade year, will be a freshman linebacker at Alabama this fall.
