INDIANAPOLIS -- The narrative about North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky potentially being short enough to scare NFL teams away from him died on Thursday.
Trubisky measured 6-foot-2 1/8, putting to rest concerns that he'd measure at less than 6-2. In fact, 49ers GM John Lynch said on Thursday that Trubisky "made himself some money" by measuring taller than 6-2.
He might be on the short side for the position -- Browns coach Hue Jackson said Thursday that the threshold he has for QBs is 6-2Â -- and he measured under 6-3, which is what UNC listed him at, but Trubisky won't have to deal with the fallout of falling well below the height NFL teams prefer. Of course, Drew Brees (6-0) and Russell Wilson (5-11) might have something to say about Jackson's height threshold.
Here are some other results for notable quarterback and wide receiver prospects who were measured on Thursday:
» Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer measured 6-4 1/4, 233 pounds, the biggest of all QBs at the combine.
» Clemson QB Deshaun Watson measured 6-2 1/2, 221 pounds, checking the boxes on both counts.
» Texas Tech's Patrick Mahomes was the shortest QB measured on Thursday at 6-2.
» The measurements for top WR prospects: Clemson's Mike Williams (6-3 5/8, 218 pounds), Washington WR John Ross (5-10 3/4, 188 pounds), Western Michigan WR Corey Davis (6-2 3/4, 209).
» Kizer and Pitt QB Nathan Peterman tied for the biggest hands of all QBs at 9 7/8 inches. Central Michigan QB Cooper Rush had the smallest hands at 9 1/8 inches. Jared Goff's hand size came under scrutiny at the combine last year as he measured on the small side of 9 inches.
» Texas A&M's Ricky Seals-Jones was the tallest receiver at 6-4 5/8. Georgia's Isaiah McKenzie was the shortest receiver at 5-7 1/2.
