Corey Davis, one of the 2017 NFL Draft's top prospects, might not get a chance to perform for NFL scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the Western Michigan wide receiver injured his ankle while training, and his status for the combine is in doubt, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah ranks Davis as the draft's No. 8 prospect, and one NFL general manager recently expressed to Jeremiah no doubt about the senior's pro potential.
Wide receivers begin arriving at the combine, where more than 300 draft prospects gather each year for physical and medical testing and evaluations, as well as interviews with NFL clubs, on March 1. The list of prospects who have been invited to the combine has not been released. If healthy, Davis could instead perform for scouts in a workout later in the spring.
Davis set career highs at WMU in 2016 with 97 receptions for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns.
