LSU defense shuts down Lamar Jackson in Citrus Bowl

Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson didn't look anything like the nation's best player Saturday as LSU routed Louisville 29-9 in the Citrus Bowl.

Jackson, a sophomore who amassed more than 5,000 total yards this season to win the nation's most prestigious individual award, completed only 10 of 27 passes for 153 yards against the Tigers and was limited to a season-low 33 rushing yards on 26 carries.

The LSU pass rush overwhelmed a Louisville offensive line that did a progressively poorer job of protecting Jackson throughout the season. A big part of that pass rush was LSU star sophomore Arden Key, who had two sacks and broke LSU's single-season sacks record with his 12th. That record had been held by former Buffalo Bills DE Gabe Northern.

Jackson was sacked eight times, and his rough day fittingly ended with a lost fumble with 2:19 remaining.

Tigers RB Derrius Guice, who will take over for Leonard Fournette as LSU's top rusher next year, ran for 138 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, and added a 50-yard kickoff return. WR Malachi Dupre, who is among the LSU underclassmen considering applying for early draft entry, caught seven passes for 139 yards, including a spectacular one-handed grab over the middle.
