Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama

College Football 24/7 Hot Topics:

Stats: 4 tackles (1.5 sacks), 2 QB hurries. (vs. Florida)

Skinny: It's easy to run out of superlatives when evaluating the 6-foot-3, 291-pound defensive playmaker. Allen is a destructive force at the point of attack, exhibiting exceptional strength, power and athleticism while warding off blockers at the line.

As a pass rusher, in particular, Allen's outstanding hand skills and upper-body strength made him nearly impossible to slow down in the SEC Championship Game. He ran through Florida's front line. On back-to-back sacks in the fourth quarter, Allen showcased his entire arsenal while corralling Austin Appleby in the pocket. With his hand skills and his surprising quickness, the senior showed evaluators that he could win with power or finesse as a pass rusher. As a run defender, Allen's contribution on a late goal-line stand showcased his effectiveness as an early down player. With few defensive linemen offering such an array of skills at the point of attack, Allen is locked in as a top-15 prospect in the 2017 class.
