Broncos claim Justin Forsett off waivers from Lions

Justin Forsett is reuniting with Gary Kubiak in Denver.

The Broncos have claimed Forsett off waivers from the Lions, the team made official Tuesday.

Might Forsett contribute as soon as this week's game at Tennessee?

Rookie Devontae Booker is averaging just 2.80 yards per carry since replacing injured starter C.J. Anderson in Week 8. Backup Kapri Bibbswas placed on injured reserve after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's victory over the Jaguars.

Forsett thrived in Kubiak's lone season as the Ravens' offensive coordinator, rushing for a career-high 1,266 yards in 2014. Two years earlier, Forsett averaged a gaudy 5.9 yards per carry in Kubiak's Texans offense.

Now 31 years old and nearing the end of his career, a slower Forsett has averaged just 3.1 yards on 44 carries with the Ravens and Lions this season.

Still, the veteran's familiarity with Kubiak's offense could result in immediate playing time considering the desperate nature of Denver's backfield.
