Grading the Big 5: Week 13 grade for Michigan's Jabrill Peppers

Jabrill Peppers, LB, Michigan

Stats: 7 tackles, 1 INT. 4 carries for 4 yards. 1 punt return for 5 yards. 1 kickoff return for 44 yards. (at Ohio State)

Skinny: The Wolverines didn't come away with a win, but I thought Peppers had a very strong performance. He intercepted a pass for the first time in his college career and he held up well in coverage. He's asked to do several different things in the UM scheme. He covered tight ends and slot receivers while also serving as a support defender on the edge. He took some snaps in the deep middle and also lined up inside the tackle box and attacked the line of scrimmage. He did get swallowed up by blockers a couple times, but he's very adept and dipping under and avoiding opponents to get to the football. He played several snaps on offense but he wasn't a factor in that role. He did make a splash play on special teams, returning a kickoff 44 yards to put the Wolverines in great field position. Overall, this was a very good game for Peppers.
