Stefon Diggs ruled out for Vikings vs. Lions

Sam Bradford will be without his top target on Thanksgiving.

The Minnesota Vikings announced Thursday that wide receiver Stefon Diggs will not play against the Detroit Lions. Diggs was initially listed as questionable by the team Wednesday.

Diggs sat out practice on Tuesday and Wednesday while nursing a knee injury. Joining Diggs on the sideline will be cornerback Terence Newman, who was listed as doubtful earlier this week with a neck injury. Linebacker Eric Kendricks (hip), however, is active after a questionable tag Wednesday.

Losing the second-year Diggs is a big blow to the Vikings passing game against a Lions defense that has allowed a 108.5 passer rating (highest in the NFL) and 73 percent of throws to be completed.

Sans Diggs, Adam Thielen will see a boost in targets and Cordarrelle Patterson will likely play a bigger role in the every-down offense. Also expect a big day from Kyle Rudolph against a Detroit team that struggles to cover tight ends.
