Grading the Big 5: Week 12 grade for Michigan's Jabrill Peppers

Editor's note: analysts and former NFL scouts Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah will grade the performances of 5 top prospects each week of the 2016 season. Click the tabs above to see their Week 12 marks for each of the players.

Jabrill Peppers, LB, Michigan

Stats: 5 tackles (2 for loss), 1 pass breakup. 2 carries for 2 yards. 4 punt returns for 29 yards, 1 kickoff return for 18 yards. (vs. Indiana)

Skinny: Peppers continues to solidify his resume as a top defensive playmaker. Against Indiana, the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder stuffed the stat sheet with a five-tackle performance that included a pair of tackles for loss and a pass breakup. Peppers flashed impressive instincts and awareness playing the near the line of scrimmage, as evidenced by his explosive tackles. In addition, he showed solid ball skills when aligned over slot receivers and tight ends in space. Peppers' versatility also stood out when he returned four punts for 29 yards, including a 14-yard return that showcased his wiggle in tight spaces. With more NFL teams looking for "Monster" backs capable of impacting the game as run and pass defenders, Peppers is squarely on the radar of teams looking for the next game-changer in the box.
