College Football 24/7 Hot Topics:

Stats: 16-of-33 for 235 yards, 2 TDs. 16 carries for 69 yards (4.3 average). (vs. Virginia Tech)

Skinny: After studying the tape, I came away impressed with Kizer's performance against Virginia Tech. The game was played in less-than-ideal conditions -- it was wet and very windy. His completion percentage didn't look good on paper, but he made some really difficult drive throws throughout the game. He was effective moving around inside the pocket and showed the ability to get to his third read. He showed his toughness and vision as a runner and also made some accurate throws on the move. The media has given him a hard time because he's failed to deliver late-game heroics. He had two opportunities to generate a go-ahead touchdown in the last five minutes but he failed to do so. His pass-catchers didn't help him out, dropping two balls that would've produced big plays. Overall, Kizer made a lot of big throws/plays but it wasn't quite enough to get the Irish a victory.
