Nick Chubb suffers sprained ankle against Ole Miss

Georgia running back Nick Chubb exited the Bulldogs' game against Ole Miss in the second quarter Saturday with a sprained ankle, and Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart is unsure how badly his star rusher is hurt.

"Don't know the severity yet. He couldn't come back in the game," Smart said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "If he could have come back I know he wanted to. So we'll see how that goes the next couple days."

Chubb would be a crucial absence for the Bulldogs next week, if unavailable, in an SEC East rivalry game against visiting Tennessee.

One of the top rushers in the nation, Chubb carried 12 times for 57 yards before hurting his ankle, and did not return in a 45-14 loss to the Rebels. Chubb, a junior, is returning from a season-ending knee injury suffered last year.

After opening the season with 222 yards against North Carolina, Chubb's rushing production has decreased weekly. He rushed 19 times for 63 yards in a win over Missouri last week.
