Michael Vick: Lamar Jackson 'five times better than I was'

Print

The combination of athleticism and arm talent that Michael Vick brought to Virginia Tech from 1999-2000 was in a category of its own, but the veteran of 13 NFL seasons believes Louisville QB Lamar Jackson's skills are even above that.

And by a lot.

Jackson led the Cardinals to a 63-20 rout of Florida State -- the team Vick's Hokies once faced for the national championship -- on Saturday with 146 rushing yards, 216 through the air, and five total touchdowns. Jackson's electric dual-threat presence certainly reminds of Vick, though he's only a true sophomore and still has plenty of time to improve. Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long suggested a different comparison for Jackson: Tennessee Titans second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota:

Comparisons for Jackson aren't easy. After all, how many quarterbacks could run through a speedy defense like Florida State's for a 47-yard touchdown, as he did Saturday?

But where Vick comparisons are concerned, Vick's own opinion is good enough for us.
