Andrew Luck upgrades his phone ... but it still flips

Everything is spinning back into orbit for Andrew Luck.

The Colts quarterback is healthy, rich and gifted with the fresh start that each new season brings. Add to this re-birth a new phone that might not get the internet, but can flip real good.

Luck famously had used the same flip phone for years, bravely shunning the smartphone culture that has become ubiquitous in modern society. He explained his reasoning in a USA Today interview earlier this month.

"One, I like it. It's a comfort thing," Luck explained. "I think anybody can appreciate that, if you're used to that. Two, I don't think I want to be connected 24/7, and this phone is maybe sort of a reminder that you don't have to be connected. And it's nice to get away. It's nice to turn your phone off."

You have to admit the logic is there. And most fans would be surprised to know how many prominent NFL players completely shut out the outside world of obsessive football coverage. This makes it easier for Luck.

And let's face it: We all kind of miss flip phones a little, right? There was something cool -- something ... final -- about snapping that sucker shut when a conversation was over. Tapping the red "end call" icon just doesn't have the same panache.
