The on-again, off-again football career of Cordell Broadus, for now, is off.
The son of rap artist Snoop Dogg, for the second time in the past year, has left the UCLA football program. Bruins coach Jim Mora said Broadus is pursuing other passions, per Lindsey Thiry of The Los Angeles Times.
If that sounds familiar, it should.
That was the initial reason given when Broadus, who was a four-star wide receiver recruit in high school and signed with UCLA in 2015, left the program last August. Later in the fall, he indicated that he had lost his love for the game and had played for the approval of his famous father.
Broadus reportedly had a change of heart, however, and participated in spring practice with intentions to return to the Bruins program as a walk-on. In taking Broadus back on the team for the spring, Mora took a chance on Broadus' renewed passion for football.
If Broadus gets the itch to play again, it's hard to imagine Mora being the coach to, once again, facilitate it.
