Tim Williams burst onto the scene as a disruptive pass rusher last season. He registered 10.5 sacks in 2015, and has the potential to be even more productive in 2016.

CFB 24/7 is marking the days to the start of the 2016 season by counting down the top 25 players in college football.

Williams isn't the only Alabama linebacker to keep an eye on in 2016; he was one of three Crimson Tide linebackers to make the Butkus Award watch list. Williams is also on the preseason watch lists for the Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski awards.

Pulling back the curtain on the vote

Williams earned votes from four of seven CFB 24/7 experts -- three of those votes were in the top 10. Williams is among four Alabama players that ranked in the top six in NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein's list of the top 15 senior prospects in college football.

What some of our analysts are saying about Williams

"Williams didn't play full-time last fall but he wrecked shop when he was on the field. He converts speed to power as well as any pass rusher in the country." -- Daniel Jeremiah

"Rugged defender with a nose for the ball. Williams could be the next 'Bama defender to take the SEC by storm." -- Bucky Brooks

"On a talented defensive front that relies on multiple rotations, Williams produces at an exceptional level." -- Lance Zierlein

"Williams' upside is fantastic, as his speed and length off the edge are just starting to test the limits of college tackles." -- Chad Reuter

Where do fans rank Williams?

We asked Twitter users who they considered the best player in college football. Williams didn't receive a vote. Fans will be more familiar with Williams' skills as the 2016 season unfolds. While scouts are well aware of his ability, Williams shared the spotlight last season on a defense that had four players selected in the first two rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft.
