Jamal Adams enters his junior season as one of the top defensive backs in college football. The second-team All-SEC selection started all 12 games at safety for LSU last season. He made four interceptions and recorded 67 tackles in 2015. For NFL scouts, Adams will be under the microscope when LSU takes on Alabama on Nov. 5, as the defensive back will be lined up across from talents such as Tide receiver Calvin Ridley and tight end O.J. Howard.

CFB 24/7 is marking the days to the start of the 2016 season by counting down the top 25 players in college football.

Adams also has an NFL pedigree. He is the son of George Adams, the New York Giants' first-round pick in the 1985 NFL Draft.

Pulling back the curtain on the vote

Adams received votes from two of seven CFB 24/7 experts. One of those two votes was in the top 10.

What some of our analysts are saying about Adams

"I had a chance to see Adams play live last fall and he put on a show. He is quick, instinctive and physical." -- Daniel Jeremiah

* * *

"Big hitter with exceptional instincts and awareness. Adams has a knack for making plays between the hashes." -- Bucky Brooks

Where do fans rank Adams?

We asked Twitter users who they considered the best player in college football. Adams didn't receive a vote. This is a bit of a surprise given the plethora of defensive backs that LSU -- which could make a strong case for the title of "DB U" -- has sent to the NFL.
