Patrick Peterson: 'I would love to go up against Odell'

The NFL's offseason doldrums are in full effect, leaving Operation Odell Overload to drive the pre-training camp news cycle.

Taking yet another potshot against nemesis Josh Norman earlier this week, Beckham singled out Cardinals All-Pro Patrick Peterson as the best cornerback in the business.

Beckham and Peterson have yet to square off in game action and aren't scheduled to play against each other in 2016.

In an interview Friday with Dan Hellie of NFL Total Access, Peterson said he hopes to face Beckham in the playoffs this season.

"I would definitely love to go up against Odell," Peterson conceded, adding that he has relished his opportunities to cover the likes of Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, A.J. Green and Calvin Johnson.

"With Odell being rated as I believe the No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in the (NFL Network) Top 100, I would definitely love to get a shot at him."

No player has more receiving touchdowns than Beckham since the Giants superstar entered the NFL in 2014.

Could a hyper-athletic lockdown cornerback of Peterson's caliber succeed in keeping him out of the end zone? We'll have to wait until at least 2017 to find out.
