Minnesota's cold-weather Super Bowl LII date set

Set your calendars -- Super Bowl LII in Minnesota has a date.

The NFL's latest Super Bowl played in a cold-weather city will take place on Feb. 4, 2018, according to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. The official announcement is as follows:

This coming year's Super Bowl, LI at NRG Stadium in Houston, takes place on Feb. 5.

The last time the NFL played a Super Bowl in a cold-weather city, the Seahawks trounced the Broncos at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, February 2, 2014. The 82,529 in attendance were treated to pretty mild weather, and managed to dodge a snowstorm that followed hours after the big game. Luckily, it won't matter much for fans in Minnesota on game day. The new U.S. Bank stadium has a translucent fixed-roof design that will allow natural light and city views, but will keep out any snow. The roof was made specifically to aid in snow removal.
