Left tackle Cordy Glenn is the first franchise-tagged player to land a long-term contract this offseason.
The Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with Glenn on a five-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. The mega deal is worth up to $65 million with $19 million in 2016 and $30 million in the first two years, a source who has seen the contract told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
The $26.5 million in full guarantees are the second-most ever for an offensive lineman, per Rapoport.
Glenn, 26, was due to earn $13.706 million had he played under the tag for the 2016 season. He became the second left tackle to sign a new deal Tuesday, joining Terron Armstead of the New Orleans Saints.
Selected out of Georgia in the second round of the 2012 draft, Glenn has been a rock on a Buffalo offensive line that has undergone annual changes at right tackle and both guards spot.
The behemoth 6-foot-6, 345-pound Glenn excels in pass protection and is a key cog in a Bills rushing attack that led the NFL with 152 yards per game last season.
Although he has yet to gain Pro Bowl recognition, Glenn has flirted with that level for three consecutive years. The contract confirms he will join star wideout Sammy Watkins as the key building blocks on Greg Roman's offense for the next half-decade.
