Brian Hoyer to meet with Broncos after visiting Jets

The Brian Hoyer Road Show rages on.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the free-agent quarterback is heading to Denver for a Thursday visit with Broncos officials after meeting Tuesday and Wednesday with the Jets, per a source informed of the situation.

Released Sunday by the Texans, Hoyer took a physical with Gang Green, but departed without a deal. That comes as no surprise, with beat writer Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reporting that New York was simply doing its "due diligence" at the position.

The Jets haven't given up on signing free-agent passer Ryan Fitzpatrick, leaving Hoyer as a Plan B option if they don't wind up adding help in the draft.

Denver needs a quarterback, too, with nothing on the roster beyond Mark Sanchez and the untested Trevor Siemian. The Broncos will likely pick up a signal-caller in the draft, but Hoyer is worth a look as an experienced starter.

He won't save the day, but Hoyer played above expectations for much of last season with the Texans. His playoff meltdown against the Chiefs was an epic example of his risky floor, but he won't be out of work for long. Every one of these passers have nine lives in today's NFL.
