After a two-year journey that took him to New England and New Orleans, Brandon Browner is back in Seattle. The cornerback feels like a child on the first day of school.
"I still feel like this is my first year," Browner said Monday, via the team's official website. "I've got the nerves and anxiety all over again. I guess that's a good thing, because I want to prove myself all over again."
Browner will have to prove himself to make the Seahawks' squad, battling Jeremy Lane and DeShawn Shead for playing time opposite Richard Sherman. Browner was effectively cut the last two seasons due to declining play.
The 6-foot-4 corner was burned routinely and was a penalty machine last season. Browner, 31, revealed he played through a torn MCL in 2015.
"I had a rough season last year, so I didn't want to go out that way-losing, having my worst season-and maybe retiring that way," he said. "So I just worked hard (in the offseason), and hopefully it will show once the season starts."
One of the original members of the "Legion of Boom," Browner's teammates are thrilled he's back in the building.
"He belongs here," Sherman said. "He's a different kind of animal than some of the guys have seen. All of us have our different ways and our different abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and I think he brings a totally different element than all of us, and I think the locker room needed that. Just the attitude, demeanor, presence."
Now Browner's play this offseason must match that leadership, or the corner will have made his final reunion in Seattle.
