Ezekiel Elliott has one word for Jim Harbaugh: scoreboard.
The former Ohio State running back had some choice words on Friday for the coach of OSU's rival, Michigan, and feels OSU's 42-13 win over the Wolverines in November speaks more loudly than Harbaugh ever could.
"I'm tired of hearing about coach Harbaugh," Elliott told The Paul Finebaum radio show. "He needs to get in check with reality because at the end of the day you can't talk smack about rivalry when you haven't won a rivalry game. You have to win ballgames to talk behind it."
Elliott never lost a game to Michigan in three years at Ohio State, continuing what has become a four-game win streak for OSU in the series. Harbaugh, the former Michigan quarterback, absorbed a blowout on UM's home field at the hands of the Buckeyes in his first year coaching the program. Elliott rushed for 214 yards in the game and relished in the memory with Finebaum.
"Hearing the O-H-I-O chant in their house, just was a special moment. And seeing all their fans leave before the game's over, and seeing the red sea in their stadium was one of the top college moments I've had," Elliott said. In two weeks, Elliott is expected to be the first running back chosen in the 2016 NFL Draft, perhaps chosen as early as No. 4 overall by the Dallas Cowboys.
For all of Harbaugh's bluster, he's been relatively quiet on the Wolverines' rivalry with Ohio State in his first year as coach. Of late, he's been much more vocal about the NCAA's decision to ban satellite camps, though he did get into a testy exchange via Twitter with OSU athletic director Gene Smith, one into which Elliott inserted himself last month.
Harbaugh would be wise to continue keeping his comments about the Buckeyes in check. But you can believe he'll have plenty to say when the Wolverines eventually turn the series.
