McCoy unlikely to face league discipline for bar fight

LeSean McCoy's alleged connection to an offseason bar fight is unlikely to cost him any time on the field in 2016.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, citing two sources with knowledge of the situation, that the star running back is not expected to face NFL discipline for his alleged role in the nightclub altercation that involved off-duty police officers in Philadelphia.

The league's investigation of the incident is ongoing, but the belief is that McCoy will avoid a suspension. This might not have been the outcome the Bills expected -- Rapoport reported that the Bills planned all offseason for some sort of McCoy ban.

Working in McCoy's favor is a dearth of evidence connecting him to the altercation, which left off-duty officers with broken ribs and a litany of other injuries. The lack of evidence is the same reason the Philadelphia district attorney opted not to press charges against the former Eagles All-Pro earlier this month.

McCoy will likely be in the lineup for Week 1, with Karlos Williams backing him up. McCoy battled through injuries during his first season in Buffalo, running for 895 yards and three touchdowns on 203 carries across 12 games. McCoy will turn 28 in July.
