The less-traveled path Terron Beckham is trying to take toward an NFL roster spot got a little clearer Thursday.
And in impressive fashion.
The cousin of New York Giants star Odell Beckham, Jr., didn't play college football. He followed his high school football career with one in personal training, instead. Without any truly useful film to evaluate, whatever scouting attention he receives will necessarily be based heavily on athleticism.
He put on a clinic in that regard Thursday in front of scouts from a few NFL teams at TEST Sports Clubs in New Jersey, according to USA TODAY. The Raiders, Giants and Jets were present for the event, per the report.
He reportedly ran an unofficial 4.47-second 40-yard dash, bench-pressed 225 pounds 36 times, with highly explosive testing of 44.5 inches in the vertical, and a broad jump of 11 feet. He put up two more reps on the bench than offensive lineman Christian Westerman of Arizona State did to lead all players at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. His vertical leap would have been the best mark of any player at the combine by a margin of three inches.
