Perhaps the Atlanta Falcons just want to make sure they have Myles Jack placed correctly on their value board. Perhaps it's simple diligence, or a smokescreen.
But if the club has serious interest drafting in the UCLA star linebacker, it's willingness to trade up would need to be equally serious. Jack is visiting the Falcons on Thursday, according to ESPN. The Falcons, drafting No. 17 overall, are at least a dozen picks away from Jack's common projection as a top-five pick. Of course, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff isn't a stranger to making a bold move up the draft board.
It's not the first time a club to whom Jack is unlikely to fall in the first round of the draft has brought him in for a visit. The Chicago Bears, with the No. 11 overall pick, hosted Jack a week ago.
Jack missed most of his junior season with the Bruins after suffering a right knee injury that required surgery. He opted to withdraw from fall classes to devote himself full-time to rehabilitation. He'll undergo a medical recheck on the knee in Indianapolis next week. His recovery wasn't quick enough that he could participate at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, but it went well enough for him to deliver a 40-inch vertical jump at the Bruins' pro day last month. He hasn't run a 40-yard dash for NFL teams and likely won't before the draft (April 28-30).
