Forsett: 'Big expectations' for Ravens' deep backfield

Baltimore's crowded backfield has every Ravens runner on the roster gearing up for an offseason battle.

Veteran Justin Forsett sits atop a pecking order of backs including Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrance West and Buck Allen. The team is also planning to add former Browns and Colts runner Trent Richardson.

On the mend from a broken arm that ended his season, Forsett knows he'll be handed nothing.

"I'm a 5-8, 190-pound running back, so I always have to prove myself," Forsett said, per the team's official website. "It's no different. Each year nothing is promised, so I just have to go out and work and show what I've been doing over the last eight or nine years."

Coach John Harbaugh told reporters at the combine in February that Forsett "fits the bill" as a workhorse runner, but keep an eye on Allen. The second-year back showed flashes of power and burst last season in limited work. He would make for an intriguing partner alongside Forsett, who is hoping to regain his Pro Bowl form of 2014.

"I'm excited to get back this season," Forsett said. "Big expectations for myself and I'm just ready to get back at it and be 100 percent."

As for the others, Taliaferro is coming off a season-ending foot injury, while West must show he's more than just a guy. And let's not waste type on Richardson until he shows he can whittle his way back into shape.

There's plenty of names here, making Baltimore's backfield one of the juiciest position groups in the AFC heading into OTA season.
