Whatever interest the Dallas Cowboys had in putting Ezekiel Elliott through a workout last month, it apparently hasn't waned.
The Ohio State star running back flies to Dallas on Sunday morning for a visit with club officials, according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport.
Dallas holds the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL draft, and although Darren McFadden enjoyed a career resurgence in the Cowboys' backfield last year, there are some signs that the club is giving Elliott serious consideration. McFadden has a long history of injuries that make back-to-back healthy seasons seem unlikely.
Beyond his rushing exploits, Elliott's ability to block and catch have scouts believing he'll be a three-down player in the NFL, a factor that has helped make him the draft's top prize at the position. Cowboys officials went to Columbus, Ohio, to work out several of the Buckeyes' top draft prospects on March 25, and Rapoport's tweet indicates Elliott was among them. Now, they're using one of 30 allotted visits on the two-time 1,800-yard rusher.
But the connections don't stop there.
Elliott has said he wants to be drafted by the Cowboys so he can play behind one of the most physical offensive lines in the game. NFL Media analysts Bucky Brooks and Lance Zierlein are currently projecting that he'll get his wish.
The only question: is he Dallas' wish, too?
