Jags continue free-agent spree with Kelvin Beachum

The Jacksonville Jaguars' excellent offseason continued Tuesday with the signing of offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Beachum agreed to a deal with the Jaguars, according to a source involved with the negotiations. Beachum was ranked No. 36 in our top 99 free agents available, and would have been ranked in the top 20 if he wasn't coming off a torn ACL.

Beachum was one of the better young left tackles in the league when healthy, so we're a little surprised the Steelers didn't make him a bigger priority. It's always tricky to evaluate players coming off injury, but a lot of times it's worth "buying low" on a premium talent at a reduced price. Beachum could wind up supplanting former No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel at left tackle for the Jaguars.

It has been a terrific offseason for the Jaguars. They have picked up five starters: defensive end Malik Jackson, cornerback Prince Amukamara, safety Tashaun Gipson and Beachum. Running back Chris Ivory also will bring a physical element to the backfield.

It's a win-now year in Jacksonville for coach Gus Bradley and general manager Dave Caldwell, and it isn't leaving anything to chance.
