Boise State's Kamalei Correa draws Clay Matthews comparisons

Is the next Clay Matthews available in the 2016 NFL Draft?

Comparisons between NFL players and draft prospects commonly are made only because of like styles, but according to DraftInsider.net's Tony Pauline, NFL executives believe Boise State pass rusher Kamalei Correa is similar to the Green Bay Packers star in both "style and substance."

That's lofty praise, given Matthews' substance includes an average of nearly 10 sacks per year over a seven-year career. Correa piled up 19 sacks and 30 tackles for loss over his last two seasons at Boise State, including a Mountain West-high 12 sacks as a sophomore in 2014. That year, he took over for Demarcus Lawrence, now of the Dallas Cowboys, as Boise State's top pass rusher.

According to the report, Correa impressed clubs with his interviews at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah rates Correa No. 33 among this year's draft prospects.

The window is certainly wide open for edge rushers to climb draft boards. Unlike last year's draft, which was regarded as a strong one for that role, this year's draft isn't as deep with talent at the position.
