Free agent visits roundup: Mario Williams hits the road

Free agency is nearly here, but players are already hitting the road in search of their new homes for next season. Several jet-setting stars have already made and scheduled visits with NFL teams eager to bolster their rosters through free agency.

Here's a look at some notable players who are planning or who have already made team visits:

  1. Mario Williams has had a busy itinerary since being cut by the Buffalo Bills last week. On Saturday and Sunday, Williams visited with the Miami Dolphins and he's set to visit with the New York Giants this week, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. The 31-year-old defensive end should continue to draw ample interest on the free-agent market.
  1. Another player who shouldn't spend much time as a free agent is former Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson. The 29-year-old veteran visited with the Giants on Sunday, Rapoport reported.
  1. Former New Orleans Saints offensive guard Jahri Evans visited with the Bills on Monday, a source informed of his plans told Rapoport.
  1. Ex-Rams defensive end Chris Long will visit with the Redskins on Tuesday, a source informed of his plans told Rapoport.
  1. James Laurinaitis, who was cut by the Rams last month, will visit with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday and Tuesday, NFL Media's Albert Breer reported.
