Peyton not required to take physical this week

Peyton Manning hasn't announced his plans for next season, which has forced us to read between the lines of everything he says.

NFL Network's James Palmer reported we wouldn't get a final answer from Manning until next week, before his salary is guaranteed for the 2016 season. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport notes that Manning has a looming physical, but he does not need to actually take it by Friday. Per his contract, Manning just has to communicate to Denver he's available for it.

In other words, don't expect Manning to walk through the door for a physical that could trigger any guaranteed money. It is not likely he'll have to actually take the physical. He has a decision to make about whether he'll play next season, and Denver Broncos general manager John Elway made it clear that they will give Manning "as much time as he needs," but the Broncos likely would want a decision by March 9 when free agency opens.
