Hillman: Letting Brock Osweiler go would not be smart

While the Broncos remain in the dark about their future at quarterback, there are some players like Ronnie Hillman vocalizing their support for Brock Osweiler -- not to start over Peyton Manning, but to be on the team regardless.

The team is enjoying this post-Super Bowl honeymoon but they're all keeping an eye on what general manager John Elway is doing with the quarterback position. Manning has not announced his plans to retire and while the growing sentiment suggests he wouldn't return to the Broncos anyway, there is still a matter of signing Osweiler to a new deal. Osweiler could also test the open market and find that there are more than a few teams willing to spend.

He can hit the open market on March 9, a day after Manning's deadline to inform the team of his plans. Until then, players like Hillman will just have to play the waiting game even if that means their own free agency plans will be in flux.

Hillman, who told Sirius XM that he just wants to be employed in 2016, is also set to hit the open market in early March.
