Garrett: Al Golden to interview for Cowboys DBs coach

Jerry Jones could be going back to the well of former Miami Hurricanes head coaches for a new hire.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said former 'Canes skipper Al Golden is heading to Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday to interview for Dallas' open defensive backs coaching job. If all goes well, he'll be hired, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a team source.

After rejuvenating Temple's flailing football program, Golden was hired by Miami in 2011. The coach was run out of town in the middle of the 2015 season after failing to produce a single campaign of over nine wins.

Golden coached linebackers at Boston College and Penn State for four seasons and was Virginia's defensive coordinator for five seasons. If hired by the Cowboys, it would be Golden's first stint in the NFL and as a defensive backs coach.
