The Detroit Lions have found their new general manager.

Detroit will hire Patriots director of pro scouting Bob Quinn to fill the role and has an agreement in principle, Lions president Rod Wood announced Friday. The soon-to-be new GM had the support of Patriots coach Bill Belichick, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

Quinn has been with the Patriots since 2000, first entering the league with the Patriots as a player personnel assistant under Belichick. He climbed the ladder to his most recent position as director of pro scouting, which he held since 2012. Quinn is one of few that has been in the Patriots' draft room with Belichick. In his time in New England, the Patriots won four Super Bowls.

The Lions fired Martin Mayhew as their general manager in November after a 1-7 start. along with team president Tom Lewand. The team was 41-79 under Mayhew's leadership, which lasted seven-plus seasons.

One of Quinn's first roadblocks? Finding out whether Calvin Johnson will return to the fold after the star wideout issued a statement saying he was taking time to think about his future.
