Report: Chargers GM signed 3-year contract extension

The San Diego Chargers' future is uncertain. Their general manager's security is less ambiguous.

Tom Telesco signed a three-year extension before the season, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported. Telesco is now under contract through 2019.

CBS Sports first reported the news of the extension.

The Chargers decided not to announce the extension in an effort to keep focus on the team.

San Diego is in the midst of a 3-8 season with a coach on the hot seat and a potential move to Los Angeles swirling in the background.

Telesco is considered one of the young, bright minds among NFL front offices. However, after spending heavily on disappointing linebackers and missing on several draft picks -- 2015 first-round running back Melvin Gordon's problems magnify the issue -- he could have come under fire along with the coaching staff. The extension should prematurely end any thoughts about a change in management come the offseason.

The coach and home city, however, remain question marks.
