Rutgers is turning to Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash to fill its head-coaching vacancy.
Ash, who also has coached the Buckeyes' safeties for the past two seasons, was introduced in his new role with Rutgers on Monday.
Ohio State's defense is one of the stingiest in the nation, allowing just 14 points per game (second in the FBS).
Ash has five seasons of experience coaching in the Big Ten, as he previously served on Bret Bielema's staff at Wisconsin (2010-12). That experience no doubt helped him land the new position, as Rutgers has gone 4-12 in league play since joining the Big Ten prior to the 2014 season. Ash also coached under Bielema at Arkansas (2013).
The Scarlet Knights finished 4-8 this season and are replacing Kyle Flood, who was fired earlier this week after four seasons at the helm. The team went 27-24 during his tenure.
