The circus surrounding LSU coach Les Miles and his future with the school reached peak madness Friday as conflicting reports surfaced about whether he told an assembly of Tigers boosters Friday that he won't be back next season.
"Thanks for a great 11 years," Miles told the crowd, according to The Advertiser of Lafayette, La., which also reported that Miles said he will not coach LSU in a postseason bowl game.
However, the Baton Rouge Advocate reports that Miles said no such thing, and Miles addressed the reports himself Friday night.
"I had no suggestion that this was going to be my last game at Tiger Stadium," Miles told SEC Network.
Miles' job security has come under heavy speculation since the Tigers collapsed after a 7-0 start, beginning with a fifth consecutive loss to rival Alabama. Since then, the Tigers have lost to Arkansas and Ole Miss. LSU officials have made no public comment about Miles' job status, though it was reported last week that Miles' $15 million buyout would not be an impediment to a coaching change.
Miles declined to discuss his job security in any meaningful detail on Monday, saying he would remain focused on the Tigers' upcoming opponent, Texas A&M. The Tigers will try to snap their three-game losing streak at home against the Aggies.
Miles has compiled a 110-33 record in 11 years at the school, winning the BCS National Championship in 2007.
