Les Miles' tenure as head coach at LSU might be coming to an end, and a buy out of his lucrative contract will not be an issue, The Times-Picayune is reporting.
The Times-Picayune, citing a highly ranked source involved with the decision-making process, reports that a decision on Miles' future is likely to come soon. In addition, the $15-million buy out clause that is in Miles' contract will not be an issue for the Tiger Athletic Foundation, The Times-Picayune reports citing a high-ranking source.
After opening the season 7-0, LSU has lost three consecutive games to take itself well out of contention for the SEC title or a College Football Playoff spot. This is the fourth consecutive season in which LSU will finish with at least three losses.
Miles has compiled a 110-32 record in 11 seasons as LSU coach, including winning the national title game over Ohio State following the 2007 season and reaching the national title game following the 2011 season, but losing to SEC rival Alabama.
Miles has produced 12 first-round NFL draft picks during his LSU tenure, the most recent being New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Before being hired by LSU, Miles coached at Oklahoma State, compiling a 28-21 record over four seasons.
