Oklahoma jumped only five spots from No. 12 to No. 7 with its win over Baylor in the CFP rankings released Tuesday.
The top four teams remained the same as the previous week, with Clemson at No. 1, followed by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Notre Dame. Iowa held at No. 5, and Oklahoma State replaced Baylor as the No. 6 team. The Cowboys face Baylor and Oklahoma over the final two weeks of the season.
Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long, the selection committee chair, said the Big 12's backloaded schedule is making the expected impact on the rankings.
"The Big 12 teams, as we anticipated, we didn't know which one, but with their schedule backloaded we now see some of those teams emerging," Long said. " ... We spent a lot of time talking about (Nos.) 5 through 7."
The CFP selection committee will release rankings each Tuesday through Dec. 1, and will pick the four-team playoff field on Sunday, Dec. 6. The Capital One Orange Bowl and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl will host the semifinals at 4 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET, respectively, on Dec. 31. The College Football Playoff championship game will be held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Jan. 11, 2016.
The committee will operate with 12 members instead of 13 this year due to the resignation of USC Athletic Director Pat Haden.
