Luck declines to comment on ribs, blames self for loss

Andrew Luck didn't want to talk about reports that he's been playing with broken ribs this season after the Indianapolis Colts' 29-26 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Monday night.

"I'm not going to get into that right now," the Colts quarterback said.

Instead, what Luck did want to talk about was his game-losing interception, where he forced a pass late to Coby Fleener in overtime that was tipped by Roman Harper and intercepted by Luke Kuechly.

"We did some decent things to give ourselves a chance," Luck said, "but messed it up at the end by throwing that interception."

Luck, who was 23-for-47 for 231 yards, two scores and three interceptions, has been a turnover machine this season. In the six games he's played in, he's thrown 12 interceptions and fumbled the ball three times (one lost).

His overtime pick, which set up Graham Gano's game-winning 52-yard field goal, had Luck pointing the finger solely at himself for the Colts' struggles and subsequent 3-5 record this season.

"It's my problem and it's hurting the team," Luck said. "I've got to fix it. Or else it's tough to win. I know that, so, disappointed in myself."

Luck missed two games earlier this season with an injured shoulder. The latest reports are that he's been playing with fractured ribs as well. Regardless, if Luck is going to be out there for the Colts, he needs to play better.

At least he knows that.

"All your goals are still obtainable, but it doesn't make this loss any easier to swallow," Luck said. "I've got to fix these things in practice, and then fix them in the games."
