The quarterback duo of Mason Rudolph and J.W. Walsh led No. 12 Oklahoma State back from a 17-point deficit for a 70-53 road win over Texas Tech on Saturday. It's the highest-scoring FBS game in college football this season.
The total points in the contest (123) are the third-most in a game where a ranked team played and there was no overtime, according to The Associated Press.
Rudolph, the primary passer of the two, completed 21 of 35 passes for 285 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Walsh completed 4 of 5 for 167 yards and two TDs, and added 80 rushing yards and a rushing TD as the Cowboys (8-0) maintained a tie for the lead in the Big 12 Conference. Ten Oklahoma State players caught at least one pass as the Cowboys came back from a 24-7 deficit.
Diminutive Texas Tech wide receiver Jakeem Grant was spectacular in the loss, returning a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and catching 13 passes for 178 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown reception that probably required 200 yards of distance traveled:
It wasn't enough to outpace a prolific Oklahoma State scoring machine that tallied 58 points last week against Kansas. Oklahoma State, TCU and Baylor continue to navigate the season unbeaten in the Big 12, but they won't avoid one another any longer. The Cowboys host TCU next week, and draw Baylor at home on Nov. 21.
