Injuries: Cowboys' Randle (oblique strain) day-to-day

Embattled Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel will be without one of his offensive weapons for a while.

Running back Joseph Randle is day-to-day with an oblique strain he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Giants, coach Jason Garrett told the media.

In Randle's absence, Darren McFadden had a season-high 152 rushing yards and carried the load for Dallas all afternoon long.

However, the Cowboys will need a stable running game the next few weeks to get back into the NFC East race and help out Cassel, who struggled as the lead backup on Sunday. Without Randle, that will be easier said than done.

Garrett added that wide receiver Dez Bryant (foot) remains day-to-day. The team will evaluate him as the week goes, but have been encouraged by his workouts recently.

Here is some other injury news we're tracking Monday:

  1. The Chargers took a beating Sunday at the hands of the Raiders, and not just on the scoreboard. Big money guard Orlando Franklin suffered a slight MCL sprain and is day-to-day, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, per a source.

Also, rookie linebacker Denzel Perryman strained his bicep muscle, Rapoport added, per a source informed of his injury.

  1. An MRI confirmed that Texans running back Arian Foster suffered a torn Achilles, according to Rapoport. Coach Bill O'Brien said he expects Foster to miss the rest of the season.
  1. Cardinals wide receiver John Brown (hamstring) played in the team's Monday night matchup with the Ravens.
  1. Browns quarterback Josh McCown is day-to-day with a shoulder injury, coach Mike Pettine told the media. McCown is a little "banged up," Rapoport reported, and might miss some practice time.
  1. Colts wideout Phillip Dorsett suffered a fractured fibula Sunday and is out at least four to six weeks, coach Chuck Pagano told the media.
  1. Jets center Nick Mangold suffered a neck injury late in Sunday's loss to the Patriots and walked off the field. The X-rays on his neck came back negative. However, he is dealing with soreness and his status for Sunday is to be determined.
  1. Lions coach Jim Caldwell told the media that X-rays on the left hand of quarterback Matthew Stafford were negative. Stafford suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
  1. Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan is slated to have surgery Monday after breaking a small bone in his hand, Rapoport reported, per a source. Washington has a Week 8 bye, so he may not miss time.
  1. Eagles coach Chip Kelly told the media Monday that Ryan Mathews tweaked his groin during Sunday night's loss. The injury would explain why, following his touchdown run, Mathews got just one carry for the rest of the game.

Kelly added that left tackle Jason Petersshould be good to go when the Eagles reconvene for training following the bye. Peters was carted off the field with a lower back injury against the Panthers.

  1. Packers wide receiver Davante Adams (ankle) should suit up for Green Bay's Sunday night matchup with the Broncos, coach Mike McCarthy told the media.
  1. Panthers coach Ron Rivera told the media that linebacker Shaq Thompson (knee) could be back by Carolina's Monday night game against the Colts.
  1. Falcons safety William Moore (groin) and Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday.
  1. The Buccaneers believe that wide receiver Louis Murphy has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, the team confirmed. Coach Lovie Smith added that more will be known about Vincent Jackson's knee injury later in the week.
  1. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told the media that wide receiver Paul Richardson (ACL) practiced Monday and is "really anxious" to contribute. Though Richardson is just one day off the PUP list, Carroll added there is a chance he could play Sunday.
  1. Ravens cornerback Tray Walker underwent concussion protocol after leaving Monday's game against the Cardinals in the second half, the Ravens reported. Offensive linemen Kelechi Osemele (knee) and Eugene Monroe (shoulder) also left in the second half and missed the remainder of the game.
  1. Cardinals cornerback Jerraud Powers suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of Monday's game against the Ravens and did not return.
